David Schwalm is professor emeritus at Arizona State University. He came to ASU as director of the writing program and subsequently became an administrator involved in the academic development of new ASU Campuses—ASU West and ASU Polytechnic. He was also deeply engaged in the ongoing development of transfer articulation among Arizona universities and community colleges. He is the founder of WPA-L, a popular listserv discussion site for writing program administrators. Since retiring, he has served as chair of the board of trustees of the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine.
